We are looking for YOU as an Accounting Clerk Backoffice (m/w/d) for the finance and accounting department of our client.
Our client is a leading energy merchant located in Düsseldorf.
This is a temporary project starting as soon as possible for nine month with realistic chance of being taken on in a permanent position.
Your Tasks:
- Processing, monitoring and safeguarding the correctness of all types of European and US wide Exchange-traded Derivatives and Spot products incl. related collateral/margin payments
- Daily reconciliation between Trading systems, Exchanges and Clearing/Settlement banks incl. documentation of the controls
- Resolving discrepancies with Front Office, Exchanges and Clearing Banks
- Steering internal policies and process controls with respect to trading administration
- OTC Margining and Exchange Clearing Margining
- Review and redesign, eventually improve business processes and documentation to increase efficiency, quality and level of automation
- Participating in implementation projects for new products and markets
- Working with international teams like Front Office, Risk, Accounting, Treasury and other stakeholders to resolve commercial issues over different departments
- Participating in the strategic Digital Transformation program of the Uniper Back -and Middle Office area
- Participating in the initiatives to operate, maintain and develop methods, tools and processes to support development in the department
Your Qualification:
- Working experience in Bank Financial sector or Back Office for Exchange traded products commodities
- Strong analytical and numerate skills with ability to make data-driven decisions and work to a high standard of accuracy, dependability and thoroughness
- Good knowledge of clearing (related) business/processes, margin requirements and margining models as been used by the main CCP’s
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel (experienced-expert level VBA, macro's) and Digital Collaboration tools (e.g. Office 365, MS Teams, MS Flow, PBI)
- Knowledge of key principles, processes and general concepts of Operational Excellence
- Entrepreneurial attitude that constantly challenges status quo but also actively contributes to improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the operational process landscape also considering available digital tools and technologies
- Strong ability to demonstrate understanding of and also support managing Back Office role to control, to protect company’s interest (internally but also with external serviceproviders) and to act as a line of defence.
- Very good knowledge of English; knowledge of additional languages would be advantageous
